| Children's Furniture and The Amazing Wonderland Chess
Set |
|
| We still have
some of the chairs from the Alice in Wonderland Furniture Collection
we made for Harrods in the 80s. There are two designs
1. The Humpty Dumpty
2. The Hickory Dickory
Both chairs are made in Yugoslavian Beech hardwood, finished with
matt polyurethane and waxed.
|
 |
The Humpty
Dumpty Chair features finely detailed characters painted in red,
white and blue enamel paints. The White King, Humpty himself and the
Kings men - three Grenadier Guards. The egg motif (in the legs) is
the answer to the riddle in the nursery rhyme.
The Hickory Dickory Chair features two Alice blue clocks
and a mouse on the lower back rail (carved corn stalks)
Sorry there are no stools left.

The Wonderland Chess Set
This is the last of a set of three rare chess sets (unlike our
limited edition of thirty Through the Looking Glass sets sold around
the world). The first of these was commissioned by Japan Satellite
Television in 1991. We were chosen
to represent Britain in a series called Eurocraft - the best of British
handmades, along with Morgan cars and Scotch whiskey. We were to represent
childhood. |
 |
